Mission

Decoding Mongolia is an independent journalism project. Why “decoding”? Because power speaks in code — tender documents, legal jargon, contradictory promises, the hidden meaning behind press releases. We decode that code and deliver it to everyone in plain language, through satire and facts.

Who we are

We are a team working in journalism, economics, data analysis, and visual art. One thing unites us: we believe Mongolia needs the truth. For security reasons, we do not publish our names, titles, or photographs. We speak as “we” — this is not a weakness; it is our protection.

How we're led

We are led not by a board chair but by editorial principles. What to publish, what to verify, what to refuse — every decision is made by journalistic rules: facts, verification, fairness, and the public interest. For security reasons, we do not publish the names of our leadership. This decision comes not from fear, but from calculation.

• A rolling promise tracker — pledges vs. delivery, with evidence.
• Regular surveys — neutral questions, published results.

Ugly Truth — our monthly investigation series

Satire makes you smile. The ugly truth wakes you up. Each month we take apart one big topic: where the money went, who decided, what evidence remains.

Every episode follows the same structure:

1. What happened — a summary of the topic.
2. The evidence — what we found.
3. The money trail — figures, tenders, transfers.
4. Conclusion — our assessment.

Series rules: we never publish what is unverified. We never reveal a source.
